The Mongolian Intelligence Agency has issued a warning to
the City Professional Inspections Office (PIO) regarding eggs that were
supplied from the Hebei province of China,
which are harmful to people’s health, the PIO said Wednesday.
According to the PIO, some village citizens of this state feed their chickens and ducks with very cheap feed called “Sudan Red” and even peasants call the eggs ‘harmful’, and don’t use them in their food. The Chinese Ministry of Industry and Trade has confiscated harmful eggs, which professionals call “red hearted eggs,” and the local Inspection Institute made analysis on the food’s safety. They detected 0.137 milligrams of nitrogen per 1kg of such eggs. “Nitrogen could create cancer when it goes into the human body,” said officials from the department of chemistry at NUM. “Sudan Red”, is also used for petroleum products and has 4 levels of intensity. As the level increases, the yolk becomes redder and more poisonous. “The Food Safety Office in Beijing has prohibited the sale of the ‘red hearted’ egg produced in Hebei, in all the supermarkets throughout China. Also they have arrested the egg trade between Hebei and Tianjin. The officials found out that the eggs were distributed to some of the biggest hotels by the wholesale market,” the statement from the Intelligence Agency said. Because the price of this red egg is much less than the other kinds of eggs, Mongolian traders may import that particular egg from China and sell to the Mongolians, the PIO warned to the related offices. “When people buy eggs, they need to look at them in the light, and if they are red, it can be considered poisonous. All people should make sure that they don’t buy any eggs without a stamp or sanitary certificate,” said O. Ganbat, state veterinary inspector at PIO. Therefore, if people find any ‘red’ eggs, they need to inform PIO immediately, officials warned. |
