The Mongolian National Front, a movement unified with 8 civic movements including NGOs will hold the All People’s congress on November 6-8 on Sukhbaatar square, movement officials said Tuesday.

The My Mongolian Homeland, Dayar Mongol, Mongolian Elders Free Association, Democratic Association and New Wave movements as well as the Center for Protecting Violated Human Rights and Political newspapers integrated together establishing the “Mongolian National Front,” Union of Movements with G. Uyanga, Chief-editor of the Political newspaper working as head of the Union.

“We are organizing the People’s congress with three main objectives,” Uyanga told MonInfo in an interview Tuesday.

“First, the current Minerals law is to be stopped because this law allows land wealth to go to foreigners without going through Mongolian citizens. Secondly we will poll the public about whether to resign the current Parliament and President.”

“Thirdly to organize the Mongolian Total People’s Special Congress. We want to assign people who are not involved in these nasty things like corruption and those who have fair principles need to be in power,” she added.

In order to hold a protest or any event like the above congress, citizens must submit a statement to the related district governor, said a Sukhbaatar district Governor’s office official. However, the officer said no such request had been received for the congress.

“The Congress is going to be like a conference. Because we have no space indoor to hold this meeting we have selected Sukhbaatar square to let as many people as possible participate,” Uyanga said.

G. Baasan, Head of the Mongolian Elders’ Free Association said, “Any person or any movement is likely to join with us and even the President can come to the congress to apologize to the people of Mongolia.”

“We are upset that Khoroo governors appointed from the MPRP are now telling their khoroo residents not to come to the congress and promising to give fire-wood and money if they don’t show up,” Baasan added.

Officials at the MPRP said they knew nothing of Baasan’s claims.

“There are no people crazy enough in our party who would say such things. It is up to people themselves whether they go to the congress or not,” N. Altansukh, head of the MPRP’s political department at the city party council, told MonInfo Tuesday.

Political newspaper has been organizing discussions entitle “What shall we do?” in anticipation of the congress of All People in order to be aware of what is facing Mongolia. Last week the discussions were shown on Channel 25 and the meeting minutes were published in Political newspaper.

The organizers of the congress said they have invited people with important positions in society such as professors, scientists and journalists.

“Mongolia’s social crisis has been fixed as a whole system before. We want to change this system again,” Uyanga said.
